2000 Toyota Tundra Engine Ticking

In colder temperatures approximately -10 celsius 14degF and below I get a ticking noise at idle from the drivers side of the engine. Toyota service person told us it might be exhaust manifold. When we turn on the ignition we hear a ticking sound--sounds like it might be coming from underneath car passenger side.
