0w20 Vs 5w20 Toyota Tundra

0W20 is fine for the winter months but in the heat of summer 5W20 will be fine.

0w20 vs 5w20 toyota tundra. I live in Wyoming and see temperature extremes on both ends. 5W20 will retain more of its lubrication ability at a higher temp than 0W20. The 2TR is a staple of reliability.

The 0W wont thicken up as much when it cools down as the 5W will so little better start up flow the 0W will flow a ltiile quicker. Same here I have a Lexus RX350 and ironically between the 85 qts for the Tundra and the 65 qts for the Lexus I use exactly 15 qts total when I change the oil for both cars. They are multigrade oils.

I am looking for opinions on using either 0W20 or 5W20 in my 2007 Toyota Tundra 57L and what oil would be the best for this engine. 0w-20 works just fine 5w-20 down to -20 degrees 5w-30 works good just it will. I plan on switching mine to 5W20 for the summer especially since Ill be towing.

13 Jan 10 2008. Both oils are rated as a 20 weight oil at operating temp. 5w20 is fine 0w20 is the best for any range as it will flow the easiest in any cold start whether its -10 or 50 outside which is why Toyota probably speced it in the first place.
