Same quality as OE for less money Designed with the latest software and manufactured with modern tooling.
02 toyota tundra hood won't latch. One on each front corner. The latch is spring loaded so the hood pops up slightly when released. At 315 the hood latch released.
The other side of the latch component the part the hood loop presses on seems to be moving but wont articulate far enough to fully latch. Thats not too bad generally but now that I know what it actually took to fix the problem that is a LOT. I opened the hood to check the oil today and I cant get the hood to latch back closed.
Sometimes the hood on Toyotas gets stuck and wont pop up after the interior latch is released. By the time you made it this far it. The lever inside the cab of the truck works however it looks like the cable for the lever behind the grill is broken.
So my question is. Also the hood wont close it. Sometimes especially on older Tundras you may.
Start by checking the cableIf the cable is holding the latch open this will happenTry spraying a little lube on the cable and latch mechanism while some one works the lever from insideIf this is the first time you have had this problen that more that likely this is the problemThe only other thing would be it your latch on the hood is not engaugeing fully into the reciever below then some adjustments will. Sometimes the hood on Toyotas gets stuck and wont pop up after the interior latch is released. I cut off a piece of the grill and cut out the plastic shroud that covers the latch.
When the lever is pulled the cable trips the latch to release the hood. Sometimes especially on older Tundras you may. If this occurs on your Tundra simply pull up on the hood and it should pop up for you to release the second latch.
